IPA - International Photography Awards

A global award for professional and amateur photographers. Every year, thousands of applications from more than 120 countries are submitted to the competition. Entries are accepted in 13 categories, including Architecture, Books, People, Editorship, and Art Photography.

The mission of the competition is to celebrate the achievements of the world's best photographers, discover new talents and promote the appreciation of photography.

Award: $10,000 for Photographer of the Year, $5,000 for Discovery of the Year, $1,000 each for the thirteen category winners.

Mobile Photography Awards

One of the largest mobile photography contests. You can submit your work in 19 categories, including Self-Portrait, Documentary, Wildlife, and Photo Essay. Computer processing of images is prohibited.

Prizes: $3000 grand prize, $250 for each category winner, and $500 for photo essays.‍

Food Photographer of the Year  

One of the most famous food photography competitions has opened the application process for 2025 in 25 categories. The jury includes chefs, publishers, photographers, entrepreneurs, and writers, and is headed by photographer David Loftus. The prize fund is over £10,000. ‍

The Knight Science Journalism Fellowship Program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

The Knight Science Journalism Fellowship invites journalists, photographers, and editors covering science, health, technology, and the environment to participate in a year of advanced study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

What Does the Program Offer?

  • Study at MIT, including one science-related course.
  • Residency in the Boston/Cambridge area during the academic year (August–May).
  • A stipend of $85,000 paid in installments over 9.5 months.
  • Coverage of relocation expenses and basic health insurance for fellows and their families.
  • Field trips, workshops, and required activities.
  • Assistance with visa processing for fellows and their families.

Eligibility Requirements

  • At least three years of experience producing content on science, health, technology, or environmental topics.
  • Must work as a full-time or freelance journalist (no concurrent employment is permitted).
  • No other fellowships exceeding four months in duration in the past two years.

This is a unique opportunity for professional development and broadening perspectives in science journalism.
