World Press Photo Contest 2025

Acceptance of works for the World Press Photo 2025 competition continues. The annual World Press Photo competition celebrates the best achievements in photojournalism and documentary photography over the past year. Participation free and open to professional photographers from all over the world.

The competition covers six regions: Africa; West, Central and South Asia; Europe; North and Central America; South America; Asia-Pacific and Oceania. Works will be evaluated in three categories: “Single Photographs”, “Series” and “Long Term Projects”.

Winners will receive:

  • A cash prize of €1,000 for each winner, as well as an additional €10,000 for the winner in the “Photo of the Year” category.
  • FUJIFILM GFX cameras and lenses for the “Photos of the Year” category winner and two finalists.
  • Invitation to the program for winners in Amsterdam.
  • A physical reward for each winner.

The works of the winners will be presented at the annual mobile exhibition, which is visited by more than 4 million people in more than 80 cities around the world. In addition, they will be published on the official website and on the social networks of World Press Photo, as well as being part of an annual album available in six languages with a circulation of more than 30,000 copies.

National Press Photographers Association Best of Photojournalism 2025

Registration for the Best of Photojournalism 2025 competition is open. The award recognizes the best works created in 2024 around the world.

Who can participate?

Photoreporters, videographers and editors who work both full-time and independently can submit their work for the competition. There are no geographical restrictions.

Accepted: individual photos, photo reports, portfolio, video stories, as well as digital versions of printed pages or web links.

What can be won?

The winners of the first place receive honorary plaques. Those who win second, third place and special honors are awarded certificates. Some premium categories provide monetary rewards and photographic equipment.

Participation is free for members of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA). For those who are not members of the association, the cost of participation is $75.

Aperture Portfolio Prize

The Aperture Portfolio Prize is an international competition that aims to identify trends in contemporary photography and celebrate artists whose work deserves greater recognition. Judges will look for innovative works that have not been widely seen in major publications or on exhibition grounds. Aperture Portfolio Prize open exclusively for Aperture magazine subscribers.

What do the winners get?

The winner will be published in Aperture magazine and will receive a $5,000 cash prize, a $1,000 gift card to purchase equipment on MPB.com, and a presentation hosted by Aperture in New York.

The four artists selected for the shortlist will receive a $1,000 cash prize and an editorial publication on Aperture.org.

Pictures of the Year International

Pictures of the Year International (POY) opens its doors to all who want to share their work and participate in the celebration of the best achievements in photojournalism.

The organizers are pleased to announce the start of the 82nd annual Pictures of the Year International competition. This year, the judging will take place in a live broadcast format, allowing viewers to watch the jury deliberations in real time. Details of the competition and the broadcast schedule can be found on the official website: www.poy.org.

Pictures of the Year International believes that the transparency of the competition, where a team of professional photographers and editors share their experience and humanity, contributes to strengthening the trust of society in journalism and its representatives.
