Премія Nikon Small World Prize є унікальною в цьому списку, оскільки вона зосереджується на мікрофотозйомці, тобто фотографіях, зроблених за допомогою мікроскопа. Конкурс складається з двох частин: Nikon Small World Prize та Nikon Small World in Motion Prize. Перший зосереджується на мікрофотозйомці, а другий — на цифрових відео або сповільнених кадрах, знятих за допомогою мікроскопа.
