Kristina Pashkina was born in Kharkiv in 1989. In 2011, she graduated from the Faculty of International Economic Relations at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. After completing her studies, she pursued a second degree in Media Communications, also at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. However, she built her career in photography, which developed from a hobby into a profession over the course of 14 years.
Kristina began her career in PR and journalism, but today she fully dedicates herself to documentary and creative photography. Since 2017, she has been teaching a course in «Photography Art» at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Since 2022, she has been collaborating with international humanitarian organizations, including UNICEF. She works as a photographer with Kharkiv-based NGOs «Sphere» and «KharkivPride» and is the co-author of a social photo project supporting LGBTQ+ soldiers.
She has a number of publications in both international and Ukrainian media. Kristina is the author of the photo project «A Child’s Life Underground in Kharkiv, Ukraine» for Forbes magazine, a series of publications for UNICEF’s website, and interviews and photo reports about Kharkiv during wartime for Japanese local print media and France's «Radio Classique».
She has participated in several international and Ukrainian collective photo exhibitions.
Kristina dedicates her time to exploring documentary and personal aspects of photography, as well as the experience of «appropriation» through photography.
