Olga Ivashchenko is a Ukrainian photojournalist and documentary photographer, originally from Kharkiv, currently lives and works in Kyiv. Olga has been documenting the war in Ukraine since 2014. She cooperates with international humanitarian organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations (UN), Amnesty International (AI), Human Rights Watch (HRW), and different media. She specializes in news reporting and reporting on social issues.
Olga Ivashchenko began her career as a photoreporter in 2011 in Kharkiv. She provided coverage for the Euro-2012 football championship. In 2014, during the events unfolding in the East of Ukraine and in Kharkiv in particular, she began to cooperate with leading global news agencies such as Reuters, Associated Press (AP), European Photo Agency (EPA).
Since 2014, she has worked as a parliamentary correspondent in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for 5 years. She is also the official photographer of the Klitschko brothers' boxing promotion company K2 Promotions.
Her work has been published in TIME, The New York Times, The Telegraph, Financial Times, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Die Ziet, Der Standard, The Globe and Mail, Liberation, Le Parisien, The Atlantic, Chicago Tribune and The Guardian among others.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Olga has worked in many cities and villages of Ukraine, including the border regions with russia and belarus. She documented the consequences of the occupation of Kharkiv region and the city of Kherson, and the aftermath of the russians' explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. She worked on documenting russia's war crimes for the Amnesty International report regarding the Mariupol Drama Theater bombing. Olga Ivashchenko is still covering the consequences of the Russian invasion and its impact on the civilian population of Ukraine.
UAPP is an independent association of professional Ukrainian photographers, designed to protect their interests, support, develop and promote Ukrainian photography as an important element of national culture.
UAPP's activities span educational, social, research and cultural initiatives, as well as book publishing.
UAPP represents Ukrainian professional photography in the international photographic community and is an official member of the Federation of European Photographers (FEP) — an international organization representing more than 50,000 professional photographers in Europe and other countries around the world.
