Within the framework of the WARM Festival 2022, the opening of the exhibition “Mariupol” took place, which presented the works of Ukrainian documentarians, participants of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers — Mstislav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka. The festival took place in Sarajevo, in the building of the Red Cross Society.
The exposition presented works made from the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, on February 24, to mid-March 2022. The consequences of bombings of maternity hospitals and residential quarters, ruins, mass burials, hiding of city residents in basements and storerooms, overcrowded hospitals — the documentarians managed to capture the atrocities of the Russian army and show them to the world. They were the only photographers to cover events in blockaded Mariupol, risking their own lives.
