Year: 2022
Venue: Helsinki

The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) in cooperation with the Society of Ukrainians in Finland, the Ukraininer media project and individual photographers organized the exhibition “The Price of Freedom”, which was opened in 2022 at Helsinki Central Railway Station.

Ukrainians pay a high price for their country's freedom. Both the defenders on the front lines and the civilians in their towns and villages are forced to go through the horrors of war. Ukrainians are losing their homes and their loved ones. War brings anxiety, destruction, separation and suffering to almost every family. For many, a peaceful life will remain only in memories.

This exhibition is about the human cost of Russian aggression in Ukraine. The photos tell stories of grief and loss, as well as of mutual aid and shared resistance. The exhibit also featured images of Ukraine before the invasion to remind how easily war can destroy peaceful life even in a European country in 2022.

The exposition of the exhibition presents photos of Yurko Dyachishin, Vyacheslav Ratinsky, Alina Smutko, Sergey Mikhalchuk, Sergey Korovainho, Pavel Petrov, Mstislav Chernov.
