The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) has become a partner of the “From Country to Ukraine” festival, which aims to help local communities in eastern Ukraine fill their cities with an atmosphere of unity, support, and a sense of the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.
“From Country to Ukraine” is a large-scale cultural and educational festival, launched in 2014, which travels to small towns in the eastern regions, telling about the diversity of our country's cultural heritage through lectures and master classes, introducing contemporary Ukrainian technologies and modern Ukrainian music of various genres.
The festival's mission is to create an environment for the social evolution of unaware citizens into a civil society through the implementation of programs in the fields of education, culture, and health care.
As part of the festival, the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) was responsible for the “Photography” segment and presented a wide-ranging photo program for the first time:
- An exhibition of abstract industrial landscapes by Hryhorii Vepryk, taken in eastern Ukraine, as well as a series of meetings with the author
- An exhibition of street photographs by Yurii Khromushyn about the 1970s and 1980s
- A meeting with Serhii Korovainyi, who spoke about his project “Mariupol” and other documentary photography
- Lecture by photographer and founder of the Photo Academy Igor Chekachkov on contemporary opportunities for photography education in Ukraine and his work
- Talk by the festival's photo program curator Valentin Kuzan on Ukrainian photography in all its diversity
