The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) in cooperation with the Bereznitsky Art Foundation implemented a charity exhibition “Ukrainian Guernica”, which was opened on May 5, 2022 in Factory Gallery, Tbilisi. The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and under the patronage of First Lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenska.

The aim of the project was to draw attention to the war in Ukraine and to present to the world documentary evidence of illegal aggression and war crimes of Russia. Funds from the exhibition were spent on the purchase of ambulances for use on the frontline by Ukrainian doctors.

“Ukrainian Guernica” is the first charity exhibition held in Georgia, co-organized by Sofia Chkonia and her charitable foundation BeNext.

“Today Ukrainians are fighting for the freedom not only of their country, but also for the freedom and democracy of the world. We see every day how Russia's tyranny and terrorism kill innocent people, civilians. It is time to act and react, and we must all fight together with the Ukrainian people in all ways,” — Sofia Chkonia.

The exposition included more than 40 photographs taken by international photographers during the two months of the war, as well as documented audio and video files. The exhibition featured works by Pavel Petrov, Yevgeny Maloletka, Mstislav Chernov, Alex Kent, Christopher Ochchikone, Ron Gaviv and others. The exhibition was curated by Yevhen Bereznitsky, founder of the Bereznitsky Art Foundation.

“Humanity is witnessing barbarism, cruelty and outright lies, which are evidence of systemic flaws in the structure of international relations and constitute a crisis of moral foundations. Russia is committing genocide in Ukraine, and this is changing the system of political priorities and strategies for all democratic countries in the world. Issues that were once removed from the agenda suddenly became vital and require immediate attention,” — Yevhen Bereznitsky.
