In the border areas of Kharkiv region, education in schools takes place online. Volunteers, together with teachers and a psychologist, conduct social interaction activities once a week.

“I took photos on September 7, 2023, during a trip with volunteers to villages of Kharkiv region. The villages were occupied and are quite close to the Russian border,” says Mykhailo Palinchak.

During the school visit, an air alarm was declared and teachers transferred the children to shelter in a nearby building. There is no bomb shelter in the school.

The children, along with the teachers, settled in the narrow corridors of the shelter. The adults hugged the little ones and illuminated the room with the flashlights of mobile phones. All of them sang hymns and patriotic songs together.
