On September 15, Sunday, Russian troops hit a high-rise building in Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs. The fire spread over four floors. The attack left 41 people wounded, including four children.
“Kharkiv. The enemy struck a residential high-rise building. There is a fire, destruction,” Mayor Igor Terekhov wrote at 15:20. At 18:30, he reported 41 wounded civilians in the high-rise. According to preliminary information, the enemy hit the 10th floor of the building, and the fire spread to four floors - from the 9th to the 12th.
Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the OVA, noted that the rescue and search operation is ongoing, and one entrance of the building has been destroyed: “There may be people under the rubble. We are evacuating the residents. Specialized, humanitarian, international and Ukrainian organizations are working at the site.” The attack damaged at least 1,500 windows and dozens of cars.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the Russian attack, noting that it is determination that most effectively protects against terror. “The world must help defend against Russian military aviation, against dozens of guided bombs that take lives of Ukrainians every day. This terror can be stopped. But to stop the terror, we need to stop the fear of strong decisions that are objectively necessary. Only determination can end this war justly,” the President wrote.
On September 1, Russians struck Kharkiv once again. On that day, two medics were injured by the shelling. They came under repeated Russian shelling when they were helping injured Kharkiv residents.
