Numerous explosions thundered through the center of Kiev on Monday, March 25, about 30 seconds after the air alarm sirens went off. Russian troops attacked the capital of Ukraine with two ballistic missiles, they managed to shoot them down.
According to preliminary information from the CMVA, as a result of the missile attack on Kiev, debris was recorded in the Pechersk, Holosiivskyi, Dniprovsky and Solomensky districts. Rescuers are currently inspecting the area. Ten people were injured. Two high-rise buildings were damaged.
The Ministry of Culture also reported that the central part of the building suffered destruction as a result of the fall of the rocket debris in the Kyiv State Academy of Decorative Arts and Design named after Mikhail Boichuk.
“The air alarm was activated a few seconds before the first explosions, so students and teachers did not have time to quickly descend to shelter. Fortunately, the debris fell into the neighboring premises, where there were no people,” said Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostislav Karandieiev.
The sports hall, the congress hall and the exhibition center were destroyed. Also, the premises of the departments and the auditorium of the institution suffered significant damage.
The mayor of the capital Vitaly Klitschko noted that next to the destroyed premises of the state educational institution there is a hostel where there were many people. “Fortunately, there is no destruction there, and no one was hurt,” the mayor of Kyiv said Vitaliy Klitschko.
The president reacted to the Russian attack in the morning Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He thanked rescuers, police and utilities who are eliminating the effects of the strikes. Zelensky once again called on partners to allocate more air defense to Ukraine: “We do not tire of repeating that Ukraine needs more air defense. This is safety for our cities and human lives are saved. “All of us in the world who respect and protect life must stop this terror.
