On January 18, the court of the Frunzensky district of Minsk (Belarus) will consider the case of Belarusian photographer Alexander Vasyukovich. This is reported by the Human Rights Center ”Vyasna“.
The photographer is incriminated by Art. 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them). The announcement of the court session was noticed by human rights activists in the schedule of the courts. Vasyukovich is in detention center.
According to the Belarusian Association of Journalists, in 2016, during an exhibition in Moscow, Vasyukovich's pictures from the war in Ukraine were doused with paint. This was done by the Russian artist Anton Belikov. He also named Vasyukovich “Fascist“.
Alexander Vasyukovich is a famous Belarusian freelance photographer. He documented the Russian-Ukrainian war in Ukraine. In 2020, he was detained at protests in Belarus.
