Ruins and blood after “arrival” in Kharkiv. Documentary photos of Georgy Ivanchenko and Vlada and Konstantin Liberov

Damaged high-rise buildings, trams and trolleybuses destroyed, cars burned, wounded and frightened people — these are the consequences of shelling Kharkov by Russian forces with UMPB D-30 ammunition. The explosion in the city was heard on May 22 at 13:45. The enemy once again struck from the territory of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation on residential areas of the city — Shevchenkivskyi and Kholodnogorsk.

10 people received explosive injuries of varying severity. Mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov reported that four people were admitted to the hospital. “Fortunately, the trolleybus itself was without passengers. Also, the debris passed through the windshield of the tram,” the mayor noted.

In Kharkivska prosecutor's office It was reported that one of the injured was the driver of the trolleybus. The man is currently in serious condition. “At the time of the explosion, he was near the epicenter of the attack,” the statement said. As for the rest of the injured, most of them are passers-by.

Subsequently, Terekhov clarified that the doctors had to amputate one leg of the trolleybus driver Yuri Orla: “The operation has just been completed and he was transferred to intensive care. The state of health is stable. Provided with everything you need. Of course, the city will not leave the man alone with this misfortune. We will support Yuri throughout the further process of treatment, rehabilitation and prosthetics. Also, the trade union of the company opened concourse funds to help your colleague. All money is transferred immediately to the personal account of the victim.”

Also, as a result of shelling in Kharkiv, shops, car washes, cars, a civil enterprise and a cafe were damaged. In the high-rise building nearby, almost all the windows flew out.

Prosecutors and police investigators work on the spot, recording war crimes. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 438 Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recall that on the morning of May 19, Russian troops fired double strikes on the recreation area in the suburbs of Kharkov with Iskander-M missiles. Under the impact was a recreation center in the village of Cherkaska Lozova, where about half a hundred people were. Tragedy the destroyed recreation center from the suburbs of Kharkov was captured on film photographs by Vladislav Krasnoshchuk.
