Songs underground. Mykhaylo Palinchak filmed a lesson for pupils in a village in the Kharkiv region.

Schools near the front line in the Kharkiv region teach online.. The volunteers, together with the teachers and a psychologist, carry out social interaction activities once a week.

"I took the photos on 7 September 2023. I was on a trip with volunteers to villages in the Kharkiv region. The villages were under occupation. They are pretty close to the Russian border," says Mychaylo Palinchak.

While visiting the school, an air alert started and teachers took children to shelter in a nearby building. The school has no bomb shelter.

In the narrow corridors of the shelter, the children and their teachers huddled together. The adults hugged the youngest ones and lit up the room with flashlights from their mobile phones. Everyone was singing the national anthem and patriotic songs together.
