On May 23, Russian forces launched ten strikes on Kharkov. There were powerful explosions in the city. Today, the target of the enemy has become a printing house and transport infrastructure. According to preliminary data, the enemy attacked the city with S-300 missiles. Attacks were recorded in Kholodnogorsky and Osnovyan districts.

In the Osnov'yansky district, Russian missiles hit the territory of the Faktor-Druk printing press, where most of the Ukrainian publishing houses printed their books. In social networks, writers, bookstores and publishers express their condolences and support to colleagues.

As a result of the attack, a large-scale fire broke out in the printing house, and also burned in the paper shop. Seven people were killed and 16 others were injured. All the victims are employees of the company who went to work in the morning. Rescuers among books find bodies of dead people. And at the time of the enemy strikes, about 50 people worked there.

Oleksandr Magula, a member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, was one of the first to arrive at the scene of the attack, because it “flew” not far from his home.

“Ruined typography, burning books,” says the photographer. “The women who died there are people who just went to work in the morning, for them it should have been an ordinary day. They were publishing books. The moment when rescuers remove bodies from under the rubble, or rather what is left of them, is always very striking and will probably never cease to amaze.”

After the morning “rocket rain”, air alarms sounded several more times in the city. Medics and firefighters immediately ran for cover. “There I met several familiar firefighters, with whom I have worked more than once at the sites of “arrivals”. We are lucky that the enemy did not strike the same place for the second time, as he did repeatedly,” says Oleksandr Magula.

Watching the tragedy in the destroyed printing house, Alexander admits that he did not stop thinking about the Petriot air defense systems that are so critically needed in his hometown.

LikewisepresidenteVolodymyr Zelensky in his address once again called on partners to help protect Kharkiv from the air. “Russian terrorists take advantage of the fact that Ukraine still lacks sufficient air defense and a reliable ability to destroy terrorist launchers right where they are located — near our borders. And this weakness is not our weakness, but of the world, which for the third year has not dared to treat terrorists exactly as they deserve,” Zelensky said.

Recall that yesterday, May 22, the Russians once again struck from the territory of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation on residential areas of the city — Shevchenkivskyi and Kholodnogorsk. Damaged high-rise buildings, trams and trolleybuses destroyed, cars burned, wounded and frightened people — these are the consequences of shelling Kharkov by Russian forces with UMPB D-30 ammunition. The ruins and blood after the “arrival” were documented by photographers Georgy Ivanchenko and the Liberov spouses — Vlada and Konstantin.
