Wounded children and burned cars. Consequences of Russian shelling of Odessa in the lens of documentarian Alexander Gimanov

On the night of August 26, the Russians began to attack Ukraine with “shaheeds”, in the morning they were joined by rockets. Explosions were heard in Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhia, Kiev and Lviv regions. And also in Kharkiv, Lviv, Vinnitsa, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi and Kropyvnytskyi.

Near Kiev, about one and a half dozen missiles fired by Russia were hit by air defense. Six people were injured in the Poltava region. In Lutsk, a high-rise building was damaged, a man died. In Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Zhytomyr and Sumy regions there are also casualties as a result of the attack. Zhytomyr was left without light and water. And Vinnytsia is de-energized. Power and water supply outages were also reported in other cities. Emergency light cuts were applied in the capital, and later Ukrenergo introduced them for the whole of Ukraine. In total, 15 regions of Ukraine were hit.

In Odessa region, Russians attacked energy and civil infrastructure. There, the air alarm lasted more than 4.5 hours, from 5:43 to 10:17. Around 8:36 in Odessa, explosions were heard.

According to the data polices, as a result of a massive rocket attack on Odessa region, seven people were injured, three of them children. Boys aged 10 and 7 and a 10-year-old girl were in the hospital.

Head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration Oleg Kiper noted that during the shelling, the target of the Russians were the energy and civil infrastructure of the region. Missile debris was also recorded, as a result of which private houses and a large number of vehicles were damaged. “All relevant services are eliminating the consequences of the attack of the Russians. Law enforcement officers record the consequences of the aggressor's next crime against the civilian population,” Kiper added.

In the Odessa region there were interruptions in the power supply. DTEK of the Odessa Power Grid announced an emergency shutdown of the light. Also, the delay of some trains in the Odessa direction was reported by “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

Ukraine is preparing Russia's response to today's massive shelling. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. “Ukraine is preparing its answers. Weapons of own production,” he wrote on Facebook. Umerov also stressed that the next massive attack proves once again that we need long-range capabilities and the removal of restrictions on strikes on enemy military facilities to win.

PresidentVolodymyr Zelensky expressed his condolences to the relatives and relatives of the dead and injured. “There is a lot of damage in the energy sector. But wherever there is a power outage, restoration work is already underway. Repair crews will work around the clock. We will bring electricity back,” he said.

Recall, yesterday, August 25, the Russian army launched a ballistic strike on hotel with Reuters journalistsin Kramatorsk. Among them are seriously injured and missing. And in Kharkov there was 8 injuredas a result of the night missile attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine.
