Viacheslav Ratynskyi (1989, 34 years old) is a Ukrainian photo reporter and documentary photographer.
He was born in Zhytomyr. He has been living and working in Kyiv for the last 10 years and graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a majority in journalism.
He is a member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP).
Viacheslav Ratynskyi works in Ukraine. In his work, the photographer explores the impact of war on society's social and political issues and the lives and problems of Ukrainian youth and children.
Since the first hours, he has been covering the Russian war against Ukraine. Before the war, he had worked as a photojournalist in multiple Ukrainian media covering the most significant events in Ukraine. He created the documentary photo story “100 Moments of the Revolution of Dignity” about the events on Euromaidan in Kyiv in 2014,
Viacheslav works as a photojournalist mostly for Reuters and other media as a contributor.
He has been published in many publications (Time, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, The New York Times, El Pais, BBC, Reuters, Der Spiegel), as well in Ukrainian media (Ukrainian Pravda, Hromadske, The New Voice of Ukraine, Focus, Forbes, Ukrainian Week, Reporters, and others).
As a freelance photographer, he collaborates with international organizations such as UNICEF, USAID, UNESCO, and UNDP.
He participated in photo exhibitions in Europe, the USA, Japan, and South Korea.
His photos have been published in several books, among them: “Ukraine: A War Crime by Ninety-three Photojournalists”, “Relentless Courage: Ukraine and the World at War”, “Brave to Bring the Light” and others.
UAPP is an independent association of professional Ukrainian photographers, designed to protect their interests, support, develop and promote Ukrainian photography as an important element of national culture.
UAPP's activities span educational, social, research and cultural initiatives, as well as book publishing.
UAPP represents Ukrainian professional photography in the international photographic community and is an official member of the Federation of European Photographers (FEP) — an international organization representing more than 50,000 professional photographers in Europe and other countries around the world.
