Leica Society International for women
The Leica Society International (LSI) has announced a call for applications for its third annual grant for women in photography. This is a great opportunity for photographers to complete their own project!
What the grant provides:
- $10,000 to complete a personal project (half of the amount is provided by Leica North America).
- A new Leica camera and lens as a gift from Leica North America.
The theme for 2025 is “Courage and Community”.
Focus on stories that show the power of individual courage and community support. Projects that reveal a woman's perspective on resilience, creativity, and human connection are welcome.
Application fee: $30
Who can apply:
- Women aged 18 and older (as of March 8, 2025)

Cortona On The Move | BarTur Grant 2025
This initiative, supported by the Visual Storytellers Fund, aims to support photographers around the world by providing grants and resources to create compelling documentary photo essays. The grant is aimed at projects that highlight the most pressing social, environmental, economic, and cultural issues of our time.
The main prize: $30,000 for a professional photographer.
Awards for photographers under 30: $5,000 to each of two young photographers.
Exhibition: The winning projects will be presented at the Cortona On The Move festival in 2026.

Groundswell Open Call
The Groundswell project invites photographers and artists working with lens-based media to submit projects on climate action. The aim of the project is to deepen understanding, increase hope, and inspire further action by making efforts to combat climate change visible.
The theme of the competition: Submissions are invited that highlight a variety of climate initiatives around the world. These can be critical explorations of how individuals, social movements, or broader societal initiatives are reducing carbon emissions, promoting a circular economy, supporting biodiversity, exposing greenwashing, or ensuring climate justice. Both documentary, socially engaged practices and personal, diary or conceptual approaches are welcome. The main thing is that they are relevant to the topic of climate action.
Awards:
- The four main winners will receive an honorarium of €5,000.
- Twelve finalists will receive a €1,000 honorarium.
Submission requirements:
- 8-15 images from projects that use lenticular media (photography, video/film). Entries may include other art forms, but must be predominantly visual.
- Projects can be completed or in progress.
- Works that have already been presented as solo exhibitions in major galleries or museums, published as a book or won prizes in other competitions are not eligible for the main award.
- Images created with the help of artificial intelligence are not accepted, unless the use of AI is the subject of research in the project.
Participation is free of charge.

Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Competition
The Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Competition | Contemporary View of Architecture is a biennial dedicated to the legacy of Portuguese architectural photographer Luis Ferreira Alves, inviting photographers from all over the world to present unique perspectives on architecture.
The theme of the competition is “AContemporary View of Architecture”. Participants are invited to capture and communicate unique, contemporary perspectives of architectural objects, reflecting both objective documentation and subjective interpretation.
Prizes: 1st place: 10 000 euros; 2nd place: EUR 4,000; 3rd place: a voucher for photographic equipment worth EUR 1,500. The winners will also receive a certificate, a book and publication of their work in a catalog.
Requirements: A series of 5-7 photographs of an architectural object, descriptive text of up to 2,000 characters, images in JPEG format, without captions or watermarks.
Deadline: April 25, 2025, 23:59 Portuguese time (GMT).

KLPA2025: CRITICAL EYE - Portraits from the street
The annual Kuala Lumpur International Photoawards (KLPA ) has opened the call for entries for 2025. The theme of this year's event is street portraiture. Participants are encouraged to showcase their skill in creating portraits of strangers in public space that are spontaneous, deep and meaningful.
Who can apply:
Photographers from all over the world, regardless of their level of professionalism.
What can be submitted:
- Single images (not series);
- color or black and white photos in JPG format;
- Image size: 1500 pixels on the longest side;
No images created by artificial intelligenceare allowed.
Prize Fund:
- 1st place - $2,000 + artist residency in Malaysia;
- 2nd place - $1,000;
- 3rd place - $500;
- 3 student awards - $200 each.
Entry fee: $15 to $75 (depending on the number of images)
