“Peaceful missiles” on Kyiv: in the lens of Pavel Petrov

On the night of April 6, Kyiv again came under a massive attack by Russian troops. This time, the enemy used ballistic missiles that hit the capital, killing one person and injuring three others. Large-scale destruction covered warehouse buildings, a business center and residential infrastructure.

Pavlo Petrov , a photographer and head of the Kyiv State Emergency Service press center, documented the aftermath of the attack. His photos show destroyed buildings, damaged cars and traces of fire.

"This morning the enemy attacked the capital with ballistic missiles. Warehouse buildings, a business center. One person was killed and three others were injured. I don't want to write anything about 'peaceful missiles' because it is clear to us that civilians suffer from terrorist actions,” Petrov comments.

According to updated reports, one more person was injured during the night attack in Fastiv district of Kyiv region. A fire broke out in a private house, causing a man born in 1980 to suffer burns to his hands. He was provided medical aid on the spot and refused hospitalization. The fire was extinguished.

In addition, a car repair facility, a car wash, a service station and a gas station were damaged in Brovary district during the shelling. The number of damaged vehicles increased to 10.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the attacks Putin's response to all diplomatic efforts of the international community: "Such attacks are Putin's response to all international diplomatic efforts. Each of the partners - America, the whole of Europe, the whole world - has seen that Russia is going to continue to fight and kill. Therefore, there can be no easing of pressure. All efforts should be made to ensure security and bring peace."

He started his work in Luhansk region, where he worked for three years at the press center of the regional SES. Together with rescuers and pyrotechnics, he went dozens of times to extinguish fires, demine dangerous areas, and destroy ammunition. Since 2020, he has been working in Kyiv and is constantly with rescuers during emergencies. Since February 24, 2022, he has been filming the aftermath of every enemy shelling of the capital.
