Russian ballistics in the center of Kyiv: the consequences of missile attacks through the lens of documentary filmmakers

On the morning of December 20, Russian troops attacked Kyiv using Kinzhal air defense missiles and Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, all five ballistic missiles were shot down by air defense forces.

As of 11:00 a.m., according to the State Emergency Service, one person was killed and eleven others were injured in the missile attack. Five were hospitalized, the rest were treated on the spot.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that rocket fragments fell in three districts of the capital: Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts. ‍

Holosiivskyi district.

In this area, the debris damaged an office building, the road surface and a gas pipe that was depressurized by the impact, and five cars caught fire. Preliminary, one person was killed and another was injured. In addition, the facade and roof of an office building at another address were damaged, and the 15th floor was destroyed, where people may be trapped. Two of the victims were hospitalized.

Solomyansky district

A fire broke out in a non-residential building as a result of falling debris. According to rescuers, there were no casualties in the area.‍

Shevchenkivskyi district

Here, a fire also broke out in a non-residential building. Detailed information about the damage and victims is being clarified.

Damage to cultural monuments

According to the Ukrainian International Institute of Restoration, the blast wave damaged the facade stained glass windows of St. Nicholas Church, an architectural monument of national importance. The windows of the administrative building of the National House of Music, located next to the church, were also damaged.
