The Revolution of Dignity: How Ukrainian documentary photographers preserved the history of the struggle for European values
Euromaidan, or the Revolution of Dignity, is the prehistory of the Great War. Civil protests under the flags of Ukraine and the EU turned into a struggle for democracy and the opportunity to vote with incendiary mixtures and cobblestones in their hands. The dead protesters of the Heavenly Hundred became the first victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Eleven years have passed since then, and Ukraine still continues to pay a high price for European values.

Photo as a weapon of truth: how FotoEvidence and UAPF document the war in Ukraine
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, in partnership with FotoEvidence, is implementing the three-year FotoEvidence Ukraine initiative, which has been documenting the Russian invasion since 2014 through photo books and exhibitions. This large-scale project, supported by the Open Society Foundations and the Renaissance Foundation, aims to preserve the memory of the war and support photographers who risk their lives for the sake of truth.‍

Russian ballistics in the center of Kyiv: the consequences of missile attacks through the lens of documentary filmmakers
On the morning of December 20, Russian troops attacked Kyiv using Kinzhal air defense missiles and Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, all five ballistic missiles were shot down by air defense forces.

As part of this year's Czech Photo Festival, on October 12, an exhibition titled "The Siege of Mariupol - The Last Journalists in the Occupied City" was opened at the Czech Photo Center Gallery in Prague. The exhibition features world-renowned works by Mstislav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka. The project was realized by the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) in cooperation with Czech Photo and the Association of Professional Photographers of the Czech Republic (APF).

A large-scale exhibition of the members of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers entitled "They are fighting for us too" was organized in the Czech Republic, Belgium and the United States. The exhibition features more than 200 photographs documenting the vivid evidence of Russia's aggression and genocide, the lives of ordinary people in the war, and the brave struggle of our people not only for their own freedom but also for the freedom of the entire world.

“In many houses, the lights are no longer turned on - entire families died there.” The tragedy in the village of Hroza in the photos of Yakiv Lyashenko
On October 5, 2023, the Russian military struck a cafe in the village of Hroza in the Kharkiv region with an Iskander missile. The café was hosting a memorial dinner, which was attended by many villagers. The strike killed 59 people, including an eight-year-old child.

On August 31, 2015, police and activists who opposed the adoption of constitutional amendments on decentralization of power clashed near the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv. More than a hundred people were injured, and four members of the National Guard were killed.

Yevhen Borysovskyi, a new member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, embodies two roles: serviceman and photographer. Appointed as the head of the communications department of the 148th Separate Artillery Brigade in Zhytomyr, he never planned to pursue a career in either the military or photography, but life and war had other plans.
