Six times a day the Russians shelled Kharkiv. Consequences of the enemy attack on the photo of Eugene Gertner
The Russians dropped a guided air bomb on the central part of Kharkov. On July 24 at 16:47 Russian troops attacked Kharkiv for the sixth time. Two people were injured as a result of an attack on a private house in Kharkiv. Rescuers and medics are working at the scene. This was announced by the mayor of Kharkiv Igor Terekhov.

An international investigation has found that the Boeing 777 of MH17 Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur flight, where all 298 passengers were killed, was shot down by a Russian-made Buk anti-aircraft missile system. But Russia continues to manipulate the issue, blaming Ukraine.

Documenting the Russian-Ukrainian war, two Kharkiv photographers — Olga Kovalyova, project manager of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, and Vladislav Krasnoshchuk — came under enemy artillery fire on July 19, 2024, near the front line in the Toretsky area in the Donetsk region.

Two “Iskanders” in the center of Chuhuiv. The consequences of Russian rocket fire in the lens of Yevgeny Gertner
In the morning of July 19, Russian forces hit two Iskander missiles on the central part of Chuguev, Kharkiv region. As a result of the enemy air attack, 9 people were injured. Among them is a teenager. This is reported by the head of the Kharkiv OVA Oleg Synegubov.

Shield city or the next “fortress” of the Chasovyi Yar on the photos of Ukrainian documentarians
Chasiv Yar is a city that has been stormed and shelled for months by occupation forces. The invaders continue to intensively burn Chasiv Yar, embodying scorched earth tactics. For more than two and a half years, Russian troops have been trying at any cost to capture the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, which became the front line after the capture of Bakhmut.

Exhibition "This is order, SORRI"
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with Ukrainischer Verein Mainz e.V. and photographer David Yampolsky, realized a photo exhibition dedicated to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It was presented on May 14, 2022, at the Gutleut gallery in Mainz, Germany. The Kyiv Photography School and the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine also joined the organization of the exhibition.

The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with the Ukrainian Student Society "Sich" and the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Graz, have realized a series of photo exhibitions titled "Moments Among the Ruins. Documentary Photographs from Ukraine. People at War." These exhibitions are dedicated to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The displays were presented at the premises of the University of Graz named after Karl-Franz and the Technical University of Graz.

A series of exhibitions "Tragedy of the 21st century in the centre of Europe"
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus, organized a series of exhibitions titled "Tragedy of the 21st century in the centre of Europe", which took place in the cities of Nicosia, Sotira, and Larnaca. The events were charitable, and visitors had the opportunity to donate to the Journalism Emergency Fund, which supports journalists and photographers.

The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, PinchukArtCentre, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and the online publication "Ukrainska Pravda", implemented a project presenting an exhibition about Russia's war crimes in Ukraine. The opening of the "Russian War Crimes House" took place on May 23, 2022, in Davos, Switzerland.

“One life is enough for a drone: Olena Huseynova and photo of the week
Vyacheslav Ratinsky took this photo back in winter, in February. One of the Ukrainian charitable foundations transfers FPV drones to the military, on which people from all over Ukraine have been pouring money for several months. Two thousand FPV drones laid out in long thin black and white lines on the floor of a large pavilion. Between these lines, the Ukrainian military holds one of the drones in his hands like a toy.

How much time and effort will it take for everyone to return? Olena Huseynova analyses the Photo of the Week
On 20 February, 11 Ukrainian children abducted by Russians were returned to Ukraine. The crossing took place in the evening on the border between Ukraine and Belarus, in the Volyn region. Roman Pylypei's photo was taken during this return. It shows no signs of a disaster. The night, a car, the lights on, a woman and a child in the back seat. Everything resembles a nativity scene. A portable two-stage baroque wooden puppet theatre with the appearance of "great joy" in the world being performed.

On the evening of 9 February, Russian attack drones from the Belgorod region targeted Kharkiv. Several of them hit the tanks of an oil depot in the Nemyshlyansky district. Fuel leaked out, mixed with snow, and spread across the street, causing a huge fire. Rescuers fought the fire and searched for victims throughout the night and into the next day.

I met her in December on the train Przemysl — Kyiv. There was free space in my compartment, and the conductor dropped it off at me. She apologized - the train from Prague was late, the train to Kiev, for which she had a ticket, did not wait. I seemed to sympathize. And maybe not. I remember little of what was before her phrase: “My husband is in captivity.” But everything that happened after that phrase, I remember very well.
