How Russian propaganda manipulates the topic of evacuation of Ukrainians from the frontline territories
Evacuation is a word that absorbed tears, despair, pain of separation, hope for return. It is difficult to imagine what a person feels when standing on a platform in front of an evacuation train. On June 13, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk stated that 4.6 million people have IDP status in Ukraine as of May 2024.

A supermarket is on fire, doctors are wounded, and people are trapped in the rubble. Russians hit Kharkiv with Iskander-M missiles
Today, on September 1, Russian troops struck three locations in the city more than 10 times: Kharkiv Sports Palace, a shopping center in the Saltivsky district, and “arrivals” near Hydropark in the Kyivsky district. Damage included a Nova Poshta office, shops, a sports complex, a shopping center, cars, and a power plant.

A 12-story building in Kharkiv is on fire, there are victims. The consequences of the Russian shelling of the KABs through the lens of local documentary filmmakers
The bodies of the dead near the entrance, wounded children, burned cars, and a high-rise building engulfed in flames - these are the consequences of another Russian attack on Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs. On August 30, in the afternoon, Russian troops carried out five aerial attacks from the Belgorod region using UMPB D-30 munitions.

Microgrant and Mentorship Program to Support Ukrainian Photographers
The program includes four mentorship courses and a final competition for participants. After that, we will provide financial support of €8,000 to Ukrainian photographers who create projects related to the theme of war. First and foremost, we will support authors who do not have regular access to equipment and resources, giving them additional opportunities to continue their work.

"SMS from Mariupol"
The Ukrainian Atelier of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) and the Innovation Fund in Arts of the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg, presented a series of exhibition projects that served as a photo diary from occupied Mariupol. These projects were exhibited in Stuttgart and Dresden, Germany.

The photobook "Independent. The Story of Modern Ukraine in the Photographs of the Best Documentarians."
The photobook, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence, was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Book Institute. It contains more than 140 unique documentary photographs from over 60 Ukrainian photographers, arranged chronologically from the proclamation of Ukraine's independence to the present day.

Manipulations in the media can occur even without the pressure of censors. The flow of images is everywhere; it defines trends and tastes and influences changes in political regimes. The media constructs reality and has the power to shape the course of history.

“To give a voice to those who could not speak out during their lifetime.” Lesia Marushchak about the world's most famous exhibition about the Holodomor
Project MARIA by Canadian artist of Ukrainian descent Lesia Maruschak became the most famous exhibition about the Holodomor of 1932-1933, according to the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide in Kyiv. This artwork has traveled to nine countries, and the book based on the project has won international awards. The exhibition provides an opportunity to look at the memory of the Holodomor through art, which makes a complex topic accessible and understandable on many levels.

On the anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity, the UAPF recalls how Odesa became part of the struggle for Ukraine's independence. The city, which is often called the pearl by the sea, was then on the verge of a transition between a European pro-Ukrainian future and a Russian past. In this article, we describe how Odessans fought for their freedom, and supplement the text with photographs by documentary filmmaker Oleksandr Himanov, who witnessed these events.

On November 21, Ukraine marks the Day of Dignity and Freedom, commemorating the anniversaries of two significant events - the Orange Revolution of 2004 and the Revolution of Dignity of 2013-2014. These events have become symbols of Ukrainians' aspirations for democracy, freedom and European values. Today, during the full-scale war with Russia, the struggle for these ideals continues.

Penetration of bugs into your personal space and how to learn to coexist with it. New UAPF member Olga Koval about her projects and plans
Olha Koval is a new member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers who attracts the attention of the art community with her original approach to contemporary issues. Her project “Eruption” took second place in the competition of the Mykolaiv School of Photography “MYPH” and resonated with the audience and critics. She created more than 40 thousand red-winged beetles, sculpting and painting them by hand.
