“Foreign mercenaries” in Kursk region: how Russian propaganda is trying to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Since the beginning of the military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kursk region, Russian propaganda telegram channels and media have been actively spreading narratives about “foreign mercenaries” fighting in Kursk region. To confirm their narratives, they used photos belonging to the Forward Observations Group account on the social network Instagram.

On September 15, Sunday, Russian troops hit a high-rise building in Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs. The fire spread over four floors. The attack left 41 people wounded, including four children.

A year ago, Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, was in a relatively safe rear area, where IDPs from frontline settlements were arriving. The city was provided with communications, shops and banks were open, and residents felt relatively safe. However, over the past six months, the situation has changed dramatically.

Combining art and sport: Yuriy Makalis about the photo book “Velorukh” and cycling
Yuriy Makalis is a Ukrainian photographer and cyclist, as well as a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He combines photography with military service, continuing to work on cycling-related projects even during the war. Recently, together with cycling activist, volunteer, and IT entrepreneur Maria Shevchenko, Yurii co-authored the first Ukrainian photo book about the phenomenon of cycling, Velorukh, which covers the history, present, and outstanding moments of Ukrainian cycling.

Exhibition "This is order, SORRI"
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with Ukrainischer Verein Mainz e.V. and photographer David Yampolsky, realized a photo exhibition dedicated to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It was presented on May 14, 2022, at the Gutleut gallery in Mainz, Germany. The Kyiv Photography School and the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine also joined the organization of the exhibition.

Series of exhibitions "Moments among the ruins. Documentary photographs from Ukraine. People at war"
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with the Ukrainian Student Society "Sich" and the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Graz, have realized a series of photo exhibitions titled "Moments Among the Ruins. Documentary Photographs from Ukraine. People at War." These exhibitions are dedicated to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The displays were presented at the premises of the University of Graz named after Karl-Franz and the Technical University of Graz.

A series of exhibitions "Tragedy of the 21st century in the centre of Europe"
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus, organized a series of exhibitions titled "Tragedy of the 21st century in the centre of Europe", which took place in the cities of Nicosia, Sotira, and Larnaca. The events were charitable, and visitors had the opportunity to donate to the Journalism Emergency Fund, which supports journalists and photographers.

Exhibition "Russian War Crimes House" Davos 2022
The Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), in collaboration with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, PinchukArtCentre, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and the online publication "Ukrainska Pravda", implemented a project presenting an exhibition about Russia's war crimes in Ukraine. The opening of the "Russian War Crimes House" took place on May 23, 2022, in Davos, Switzerland.

On July 8, within the framework of the annual WARM Festival 2022, the "Mariupol" exhibition was opened, featuring works by documentarians and this year's laureates of the Georgiy Gongadze Prize — Mstyslav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka. The festival took place in Sarajevo, in the building of the Red Cross Society.

“In many houses, the lights are no longer turned on - entire families died there.” The tragedy in the village of Hroza in the photos of Yakiv Lyashenko
On October 5, 2023, the Russian military struck a cafe in the village of Hroza in the Kharkiv region with an Iskander missile. The café was hosting a memorial dinner, which was attended by many villagers. The strike killed 59 people, including an eight-year-old child.

Yevhen Borysovskyi, a new member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, embodies two roles: serviceman and photographer. Appointed as the head of the communications department of the 148th Separate Artillery Brigade in Zhytomyr, he never planned to pursue a career in either the military or photography, but life and war had other plans.
