Changes in the rules of work of journalists in war: prolongation of accreditation and a clear description of the work of the media in the zones
Another step towards constructive communication between the media and the military. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, by order No. 51 of February 3, 2024, approved amendments to the order No. 73 on the rules of accreditation of journalists during martial law. For the first time, a detailed description of the zones, which was previously absent at all, is presented.

This year marks 10 years since the Russians are trying to kill Ukrainians, and February 24 is the second anniversary of how the northern neighbor wants to achieve its goal with particular brutality. The largest war in Europe since World War II is multifaceted, it has many faces, symbols, images, heroes that convey its essence.

Casualties and destruction in Odesa: the aftermath of the Russian drone attack as seen through the lens of photographer Timothy Melnikov
On the night of April 23, the Russians attacked the south of Ukraine with Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs. The residential sector of Odessa fell under the enemy's sights. As a result of the enemy attack on the city, damage was recorded to almost 60 apartments in 22 houses. Nine people were also injured, including four children. This is a boy and a girl of 5 and 9 months and two boys of 9 and 12 years.

On the evening of Monday, April 29, the Russians struck civilian facilities in Odessa and Kharkov, resulting in dead and injured, fires and destruction, as well as frightened dogs from an animal shelter.

The destroyed warehouse of Nova Poshta in Odesa after a ballistic strike in the photos by Tymofiy Melnikov and Oleksandr Gimanov
On the evening of May 1, Russian troops once again attacked Odessa. The enemy struck the warehouses and the branch of Novaya Poshta. Information about the attack was confirmed on the official page of the NP. According to preliminary data, about 900 shipments were damaged and destroyed.

The SES fought the fire for 5 hours. Large-scale fires in Kharkiv after Russian attack in the lens of Yakiv Lyashenko
On the night of May 4, Russian forces attacked Ukraine from the Belgorod region with 13 “shaheeds” and 4 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles. Air defense forces destroyed all 13 attack drones within Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The photo exhibition was created in cooperation with the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP), FRONTLINE PBS and the Associated Press. The exhibition featured the works of Ukrainian documentary photographers, UAPF members and Pulitzer Prize winners Mstislav Chernov and Yevhen Malolletka.

WIKI loves Earth
In 2014, the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) became a partner of the international photo contest Wiki Loves Earth. "Wiki Loves Earth" is a photo competition dedicated to Ukraine's natural monuments. The main objective of the contest is to create as comprehensive a database of photographs of natural landmarks and objects of the nature reserve fund in Ukraine as possible under a free license for illustrating Wikipedia and other projects.

"Peeping through the windows"
The aim of the project is to draw society's and authorities' attention to the problem of the decline of valuable buildings and to promote the work of Ukrainian photographers and the history of Ukrainian photography. Using the empty windows of an abandoned building as frames for photographs is a synthesis of photography and architecture. They enrich each other with new meanings and seem to speak to the observer: "conscious effort to preserve history is necessary in all areas of our nation's cult"

Lviv photographer Marta Syryko about the Sculpture Project, The Bachelor, inclusivity, the body, and trauma
Lviv-based photographer Marta Syryko has created a series of photographs of Ukrainian veterans who lost their limbs in the war. The author dedicated her project “Sculptural” to art based on ancient Greek statues. Today, the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers is publishing a conversation with the author and her photographs.

Where there is a bare pier and Oleshky sands. Photo with the story through the eyes of Elena Guseinova
I remembered this photo of Ivan Antipenko in the first week of June. Blooming lilac and a fighter with a smoke block. Antipenko took this photo back in April. In the Kherson region. In the south, lilac blooms faster. Strawberries and cherries ripen faster. Russian air bombs arrive faster. And many more things in the south are happening faster. But I don't know how to use the word “faster” when describing the path to the Hola Marina or the Oleshkov Sands.
