Rocket Attack on the village of Groza: What the Propaganda Media Reported
On October 5, 2023, the Russian army shelled the village of Hroza in the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region. The strike hit a local café-store, resulting in the deaths of 59 people, including an 8-year-old boy. The Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office reported that nearly half of the local residents who remained in Hroza at that time were killed.

CABs in sleeping Kharkiv and evacuation in the middle of the night. The consequences of the Russian attack on the Saltovka 5-storey building in the photos of Ivan Samoilov
On the night of October 3, the Russian army attacked Kharkiv with five air bombs. According to preliminary data, these were UMPB D-30SN planning bombs. In the morning, the number of people injured in the Russian strike on Kharkiv increased to 12, including a child, said the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov.

As part of this year's Czech Photo Festival, on October 12, an exhibition titled "The Siege of Mariupol - The Last Journalists in the Occupied City" was opened at the Czech Photo Center Gallery in Prague. The exhibition features world-renowned works by Mstislav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka. The project was realized by the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers (UAPP) in cooperation with Czech Photo and the Association of Professional Photographers of the Czech Republic (APF).

A large-scale exhibition of the members of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers entitled "They are fighting for us too" was organized in the Czech Republic, Belgium and the United States. The exhibition features more than 200 photographs documenting the vivid evidence of Russia's aggression and genocide, the lives of ordinary people in the war, and the brave struggle of our people not only for their own freedom but also for the freedom of the entire world.

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY. A documentary project by Heorhiy Ivanchenko
Ukrainian documentary filmmaker and member of the Association from the first months of the invasion began filming for Associated Press and European Pressphoto Agency. Starting from Borodyanshchyna, where Georgy was born, continuing his journey through the front line: Mykolaiv, Kharkiv region, Kherson region, now his attention was concentrated on Donetsk region. The turning point in his photography was that he lived in Bakhmut for almost a month.

Beyond the spoil tip: Kostiantyn Guzenko documents children from frontline regions
Within the framework of the grant for documentary photographers, implemented with the support of the International Press Institute, we continue to share the documentary projects of the finalists. Konstiantyn Guzenko spent a month with volunteer organizations that have taken on the responsibility of supporting the children who have remained in certain settlements of Kupiansk district and Donetsk region, which are closest to the contact line.
